Marastina was in the past sold in pharmacies. It was literally prescribed by doctors as a medicine. It was also an official sacramental wine of the Sibenik region. 24 hour skin contact and aging on fine lees in neutral Slavonian oak barrels give this wine complexity, fuller body and typical Mediterranean character while it retains its distinctive freshness and minerality. In the past, Marastina was traditionally aged for over 20 years. It’s like a medicine.
