Description
The wine has a dark, almost opaque ruby color. On the nose, it is extremely intense, powerful and fully developed, while still in excellent shape. Dark fruit aromas and pronounced notes of wood and toastiness dominate. There are black cherries, cooked plum, charred wood, smoke, black currant, leather, cedar, a little chocolate and nuances of forest floor and damp leaves. It seems robust at first, but over time it rounds out nicely and becomes harmonious. Power and intensity are the main characteristics of this wine. Obtained from fully ripe grapes, it shows only a slight trace of dry spicy notes, such as mint – which is the recognizable signature of Istrian Teran.
On the palate, the wine is dry, with a pronounced and lively acidity, which only Teran can offer in Istria. Medium to full-bodied, with an abundance of very ripe tannins. The aromatic profile on the palate is somewhat simpler than on the nose, but still rich enough to provide a unique and pleasant experience. Teran is generally not an easy wine to understand – it is untamable, just like many indigenous varieties around the world. The finish is very long. It is recommended to decant before serving.
