Description
The grapes for this excellent wine are selected from the finest vineyards in the renowned locations of Dingač and Trstenik on the Pelješac Peninsula. The wine is made in the style and under the supervision of Miljenko Grgić, who is known in California and worldwide as one of the leading producers of Chardonnay and Zinfandel wines.
The fermentation of this premium wine takes place with natural yeasts at a controlled temperature, allowing it to retain its character and fruity flavor. After fermentation, the wine is aged for about 15 months in special French oak barrels, which impart a pleasant oak character. It is then matured for about two years in bottles, during which the aromas integrate and develop a refined taste.
Plavac Mali wine contains 14–15.5% alcohol and about 5 to 5.5 g of acidity per liter. It is rich, with gentle tannins and pleasant aromas of blackberry and Dalmatian flowers, and has a ruby red color.
