Kozlovic Selekcija Malvazija

Malvazija Selekcija is a quite new kid in our winery. Vintage 2021 marks its sixth edition. Though new on the market, Malvazija Selekcija is proving to be a huge success at competitions and tastings and, even more important, among our customers. Typically, it is sold out before the next vintage is released. Stylistically it stands between our classic, bestselling Malvazija and Santa Lucia, but it possesses its own style. It comes to the market a year after the classic Malvazija and before Santa Lucia. We can see it as a streamlined, focused, tight, more concentrated, and complex edition of classic Malvazija demonstrating clear vintage variations.

Malvazija Selekcija 2021 displays medium, golden colour with a fine brilliance. Compared to vintage 2020 it is rather open on the nose, medium intense, still a bit shy, but showing a good amount of primary fruit such as peaches and apricots as well as ripe juicy yellow fruits, melon and white flowers. Very precise and well-knitted. There is touch of smoky character and touch of dried herbs. It opens slowly with time showing a true complexity and elegance. Dry on the palate, with moderate acidities, good freshness, especially for the Mediterranean climate. It feels more medium bodied than big with well measured fruit intensity. There is just a touch of oily touch in the texture, keeping it fresh, vertical, focused and refined with plenty of delicate complexity. It finishes in a fine, slow decrescendo.
